Fabrique de la Diplomatie 2026: Central Asia and Mongolia in a Changing Global Landscape

On 4–5 September 2026, La Fabrique de la Diplomatie, organised in Paris by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, brought together diplomats, business leaders, researchers and civil society representatives to address a central question: how can dialogue and international cooperation be sustained in an increasingly fragmented global environment?

For organisations engaged in Central Asia and Mongolia, this question carries particular significance.

Regions of Growing Strategic Importance

Long viewed primarily through the prism of their powerful neighbours, Central Asia and Mongolia are increasingly pursuing their own strategies of diplomatic and economic diversification.

The development of new trade corridors, the need for more resilient supply chains, access to critical raw materials, the energy transition and the search for new international partnerships are bringing these markets into sharper focus for European decision-makers.

These developments create significant opportunities, but they also require a more nuanced understanding of local environments. Political dynamics, government priorities, stakeholder networks and regional geopolitics are now integral to any sound investment or market-entry strategy.

From Geopolitical Insight to Business Decisions

One of the key messages emerging from La Fabrique de la Diplomatie is particularly relevant in this context: in a more complex international environment, diplomacy, economics and corporate strategy are increasingly interconnected.

Across Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as Mongolia, the success of a project depends not only on its commercial rationale, but also on a clear understanding of the institutional, political and geopolitical landscape.

The challenge is therefore no longer simply to identify attractive markets. It is to determine where to position, with whom to partner, and when to act.

Turning Regional Expertise into Strategic Advantage

This is where our approach comes into play: interpreting political and economic developments across Central Asia and Mongolia and translating them into actionable strategic recommendations.

In rapidly evolving markets, local knowledge, access to the right stakeholders and the ability to anticipate change are increasingly decisive sources of competitive advantage.
